Why isn't my business listed?

A basic listing on Trade Post Local is free, and most are created automatically from public records. If you can't find your business, it is almost always for one of the reasons below, and it is easy to fix.

Where listings come from

State license records. For licensed trades (air conditioning, roofing, plumbing, electrical, pool contractors and general, building and residential contractors) we start from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's public list of current, active licenses. That gives us the business name, city, and license number.
Open business data. License records don't include a phone number or website, so we match each business against openly licensed map data (the Overture Maps Foundation) to add a phone, website and street address. Pest control and handyman listings come from that same open data.
Business owners. Details an owner sends us, once we have confirmed they represent the business.

We do not copy listings from Google, Yelp or other directories.

Why a business may not appear

We have no way for a customer to reach you. This is the most common reason. A listing is only published when it has a phone number or a website. If your license is on file but the open data had no match for your business name and city, your listing exists but stays unpublished, because a listing nobody can call doesn't help a homeowner.
The names don't match. If the name on your license differs from the name you trade under, the automatic match may have missed you. We only match when we are confident, to avoid putting one company's phone number on another's listing.
Your license isn't shown as current and active, or it is registered at an address outside the counties we cover.
Your trade isn't one we list yet. We currently cover the services shown in the menu. Marine services, paving, fencing and some others are planned.
Your business is new. Public records and open data can lag by a few months.

What affects where you appear

Free listings are shown alphabetically: first the businesses based in the city or county being viewed, then those that serve it from nearby. Listings with more complete details simply give customers more ways to contact you. Paying does not change your license information or reviews. The only paid placement is the clearly labeled Featured spot at the top of a category.

Add or complete your free listing

To keep listings trustworthy, we verify that a request comes from the business before adding or changing contact details, for example by checking the license record or replying to an address at your website's domain.
